The creation of this form requires a ritual where a human voluntarily accepts possession by a demon. In Akira Fudo's case, the ancient demon Amon merged with him to fight other demons, creating a paradoxical being that hates evil but possesses the power of monsters. This fusion grants abilities far beyond normal human limits. However, it places immense strain on the host's psyche, as the demon's instincts constantly battle the human morality within. Throughout the narrative, this power evolves from a tool of survival into a symbol of resistance. It highlights the tragedy that to save humanity, one must become something closer to what they fight against.

In Their Own Story

Ryo takes Akira to the Sabbath Party at an underground nightclub; he attacks its patrons with a broken bottle, causing demons to appear. Ryo films the demons massacring the humans, but is attacked and pinned by a demon. Akira's will overpowers Amon, a powerful demon who tries to possess him, transforming him into Amon's demon form and allowing him to slaughter the demons. After fighting out of the Sabbath, Akira and Ryo fight several demons, including the sadistic Jinmen, who is responsible for the deaths of Akira's parents, Amon's lover Sirene, and her associate Kaim.

The transformation occurs when a human soul binds with a demon power, creating a hybrid entity known as Devilman. This state grants immense physical strength, allowing the user to overpower demons who are naturally stronger than humans. Visually, the form features crimson skin, prominent horns, and large feathered wings that enable high-speed flight through urban environments. However, the fusion is inherently unstable. The human consciousness must remain dominant; if emotions like rage or despair overwhelm the host, the demon personality may seize control.
